About Youth Justice NSW Centres
Youth Justice Centres are where young people are held in custody when they break the law and are either waiting to appear in court or are serving out their sentence. Placement at Youth Justice Centres is determined by a young person's classification, age and gender.
There are six Youth Justice Centres across the state where young offenders receive individual case management, specialised counselling, and training in job and living skills. There are also 35 Youth Justice community offices that provide community-based intervention for young offenders.

Youth Justice NSW encourages family visits to young people in custody. After going into a Youth Justice Centre, your child will be classified to help decide which centre is most suitable for them. Where applicable, a child is placed in a centre close to the family home or other family members.

Conferences are meetings arranged by Youth Justice case workers. They bring young offenders and others affected by the crime together to discuss how people have been affected. An outcome plan is agreed upon to help the young person stay out of trouble in future.
